Bambola Hosts an Up-Cycling Workshop!
Share
Hello, LA! We have something exciting to share with you—an opportunity to bring new life to your clothing while connecting with local artists and crafters. On April 13th, I’ll be hosting an Upcycling Workshop at the Santa Monica Farmers Market, and I would love for you to be a part of this creative event. With the support of the City of Santa Monica, this workshop aims to inspire sustainability, community, and self-expression through the art of upcycling.
Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or someone who has never picked up a needle, this workshop offers something for everyone! From painting and patch-making to embroidery, we’ll be giving old clothing a brand-new life and turning them into stylish, personalized pieces.
Here’s everything you can expect:
Upcycling Workshop: A Chance to Get Creative
One of the primary activities at this event will be the opportunity for you to give your old clothing a fresh start. Bring in any gently used pieces—whether it’s a T-shirt you’ve outgrown, a pair of jeans that need some flair, or an old jacket you’re tired of—and I’ll provide all the materials you need to transform them into something new.
We’ll have everything you need for patch-making, embroidery, and painting. You can create fun, custom designs and add unique details to your clothes. You can either bring your own clothing or use the fabric swatches I’ll provide to make colorful patches for your wardrobe.
For those who want to dive deeper into their craft, I’ll be offering timed crafting sessions. You’ll have the chance to sign up for a slot at my tent to receive hands-on guidance in creating your masterpiece. It's an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in learning new upcycling techniques or just looking for a creative, sustainable way to enhance their style.
Live Demo: Mini Screen Printing at Home
Not everyone likes to get their hands dirty, and that’s totally okay! For those who would prefer to sit back and watch, I’ll be hosting a demo on mini screen printing. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make your own screen prints at home, this is the perfect opportunity to pick up some useful skills.
I’ve already prepared a step-by-step tutorial and materials list, so you won’t need to write anything down. I’ll demonstrate the process, and you’ll learn how to create custom prints, which you can later apply to your clothing or other fabric-based projects. It’s a great introduction to the world of screen printing and another creative way to make your clothes stand out.
Clothing Swap: Refresh Your Wardrobe for Free
What better way to embrace sustainability than by swapping old clothes for something new? At the event, I’ll be hosting a clothing swap. Simply bring in your gently used clothing, and in return, you’ll receive a ticket to choose an article of clothing from our booth. This is a fantastic way to refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime—plus, it’s a wonderful way to give your clothes a second chance by passing them on to someone else who’ll love them.
Whether you’re looking for a new beaded tank top, a stylish hand-embroidered top for women, or perhaps an upcycled retro top, this swap could be your perfect chance to discover something unique.
Calling All Volunteers: Help Us Make It Happen
Hosting an event like this takes a village, and I’m looking for some amazing volunteers to help make the workshop run smoothly. If you’re passionate about upcycling, sustainable fashion, or just want to be part of a fun, creative community event, I would love to hear from you! Whether you’re interested in assisting with crafting stations, greeting participants, or helping to organize the clothing swap, your support would be invaluable. Please feel free to DM me if you’re interested in volunteering, and we’ll find the perfect way for you to get involved.
Material Donations: Help Us Craft a Sustainable Future
This event is all about sustainability and creativity, so I’m reaching out to local businesses and individuals who would like to support this initiative by donating materials. If you’re able to help, I’m in need of the following items:
• E6000 or Fabric Glue
• Sewing Thread
• Embroidery Thread
• Sewing Needles
• Beads
• Acrylic Paint
• Fabric Paint
• Fabric Markers
• Painters Tape
• Durable Fabric (Denim, Canvas, Bamboo, Thick Cotton, Leather, etc.)
In exchange for your generous donation, I can offer various promotional materials, including posters and signage at the booth, to promote your business. If you would like to make a personal donation, please don’t hesitate to DM me for more details.
